"Son Of A Pearl" 10in (254mm) VG10 Damascus Gyuto Chef Knife. This Son Of A Pearl chef knife pairs an awesome mother of pearl pattern Damascus blade with a colorful paua abalone handle. The swirling layers of stainless steel protecting the harder steel core perfectly complement the layered appearance of the abalone shell handle.

The handle is made using a flat sheet of mother of pearl from paua abalone shells. The sheet is glued to a strong fiberglass reinforced black G10 liner, and then coated with crystal clear resin. This creates a durable handle and brings out the beauty of the abalone shell. The colors pop and shimmer, and the 3D effect of the layers is pronounced. The visual effects shift as the knife is rotated.

The blade is made from VG10 core hardened to 60 HRC. Multiple layers of stainless are forged on both sides of the blade that protect the core and result in the Damascus layer pattern. VG10 is a high hardness stainless that doesn’t require the maintenance or care of a carbon steel. VG10 blades should be sharpened with a water stone, synthetic stone, or diamond. Do not use a honing steel on this blade. The edge angle is sharpened to 17 degrees. The blade is 10” (254 mm) long, 2.31” (59 mm) tall, & 0.1” (2.5 mm) thick at the spine. Total length of the knife is 15.19” (386 mm).

 

The gyuto inspired blade is made from VG-10 steel core clad with layers of stainless for durability (and it looks awesome). Our handles are a hybrid style that makes them extremely comfortable to use, no matter your knife grip preference. An ambidextrous recess at the bolster area improves pinch grip comfort and stability. The full handle also provides plenty of space for a standard grip.

Includes a walnut wood saya and padded carrying case.
